The database for registration of major incidents, majorincidentreporting.net, is NOW open for registration.

In November 2021, a meeting was held where the original founders of majorincidentreporting.net, were presented for the new version of the website and database. The following day the website and access to the database was
published and can now be accessed over the internet.

Majorincidentreporting.net intends to collect data on major incidents where numerous personnel and resources are activated. The base is intended to be international and currently reports are available from, among others, Chile, Mexico, Finland, England and Norway.

A major incident is defined as a significant event, which demands a response beyond the routine, resulting from uncontrolled developments in the course of the operation of any establishment or transient work activity.

When data has been collected over a period of time, data from the database will be made available for research purposes. The goal is that the information gathered can be a good basis for an increased understanding of what is required in large incidents with a large extent of damage, and how resources can be used better in these situations.

Registered data is divided into two main groups. One being common incidents mainly including ground based resources such as cars, boats and personnel. The second group of data deals with incidents involving helicopter personnel who records their special experiences with incidents.

The base can be reached at https://majorincidentreporting.net under the option «Instructions» or by clicking the green button on the website.

To be able to register an event, one must create a personal user account. The instructions for this can be found on the same page as the instructions.
